We chose this blog specifically because it is so welcoming to new viewers, allowing anyone to comment on the subjects of their choice. The blog is also updated very frequently, with at least two new posts every day on a vast array of different advertisements. What do you think of Adpulp's open minded approach to marketing communications? Do you like the "pulp" theme of the blog? Do the ads on the blog relate in any way to the actual content?

AdPulp
AdPulp.com was created in 2004 with the purpose to make the communications industry a better place. Adpulp covers all sorts of advertising, from television commercials to magazine ads, and any other forms of marketing communications. The website includes an expansive archive of reviewed advertisements broken down by either month or subject, and a fruit juice theme with words like "Raw Pulp" and "Juice Your Inbox". Users can provide their email for additional unpublished content, or just browse the page while commenting on whatever post they like. There are also many social media links to share content, along with a search box to navigate more easily.

Like many of the past blogs we’ve looked at, Adpulp’s main focus is advertising. In this blog, along with the featured ad comes with an article and gives the reader a little background information. Also, readers are allowed to comment and like the articles that are posted. How is the setup of this blog different and similar to the other blogs we’ve already seen? One of the major ides that we’ve discussed in class is the audience, by looking at the wording of the articles and the color scheme of the blog who do you think the intended audience is for this blog? Also, when opening up the blog where are your eyes attracted, why do you think that they go their first?
ReplyDeleteThe Adpulp blog we choose is neatly designed. It is pretty well organized. The arrangement of the tile part with archives and links is noticeable and informative. The blue and green background is simple and makes readers feel pleasant. Adpulp dosen't have a lot of fancy pictures. Instead it is actually more attractive in its content of each post. Recall the blogs we seen before, they are more focused on the idea or interesting points of a certain ad. This blog focuses on information of the strategy of an advertiser or a company, commercialism market, and relationship between consumer and advertiser. The posts are pretty in depth and sharp-eyed, which attract a lot of readers to comment. What group is the blog target on? What do you think they should improve?
ReplyDeleteI really like this blog. It has lots of interesting information and presents it in a way that easy to follow. It seems that the information is really targeted at a specific audience. The blog would probably be most appealing to people who are interested in or work in the field of communications. One thing I noticed is that not many of the post on AdPulp have been commented on. I wonder if this site gets a lot of traffic or not.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is one of the better ones so far with its use of the archives allowing anyone to look at advertisments from a particular month and year. If someone is unable to find what they want they can use the search bar which is also another benefitial feature. It also allows people to email their ideas that can then be posted on the website. I would like to know who determines if the articles are truthful and whether or not they are posted on the website.
ReplyDeleteI didn't find the website appearance that appealing because there are not any pictures or fun colors, just a simple light green and dark blue. The first thing that caught my eye on the page was the word "pulp" and then a colorful link in the first blog about webvisions. I think the contrast in colors of their website's title is meant to catch the viewers eye first, obviously to make the name of their site known. It is very neatly organized yet I questioned the credibility of the website because like rsimpson said, not many people have commented on the blog posts. I can't decide who the blog is trying to target: a specific audience (like advertisers, a younger crowd, etc.) or if it's meant for the general public. I noticed their style of writing is much more relaxed, when they say "So here's the deal.."
ReplyDeleteI think this website was a good choice. It offers a lot of different information on advertisements and other marketing factors. Like Meredith, I did't find the site's appearance to appealing, or necessarily "welcoming to new users". But it is usable, and seems to be organized. I don't really understand the "pulp" theme though. The writings are good, and very casual. I did find it interesting how many people visit the site. If you look under the "advertise" tab it gives a nice break down.
ReplyDeleteThis site definitely goes along with the theme of our class and focuses on advertising. I like how this blog is straightforward and a little bit more plain compared to other blogs we have looked at. It makes everything easier to see for the viewer. The only downfall to this is that there are not as many interesting topics on this site to attract more and various audiences.
ReplyDeleteThe pulp theme of this blog is very creative. It gives a nice twist to separate it from other blogs. I like how it gives its users information about the site's history itself and how and why it was created. I think that's an important aspect of any website. This is a great blog but personally I found it to be my least favorite so far. It just didn't seem to really catch my attention. It does its job very well and has several great aspects a informative blog should have.
ReplyDeleteThe pulp theme is very organized but doesnt stand out to me like the other blogs. Maybe because it doesnt seem as busy to me as the others. Ive learned that their main focus is advertising. Although i like how there is plenty of information to interpret, i dont really understand why they chose adpulp as their title? I dont see how it corresponds to what is being published on the sight. I cant really tell what kind of audience this is being viewed to but it is beneficial to read. Like i said before in other posts that the Columbus blog was my favorite, this one seems to be my least favorite just because it didnt grab my attention like the others did.
ReplyDeleteI like how it has a clean and simple layout, not too clustered. It was hard to find a certain category of posts, if you want to find one and did not know what month it was published. It did however have a search engine. As I read the about me tab, I found out that their main goal is not to just simply advertise, but includes all marketing communication and also keeps track of trends, and also helps people to create their own ideas. Overall, I do find this blog to be pretty boring.
ReplyDeleteThis blog is probably one of the better ones posted by the class. It's organized, not too busy, and it has ads right on the home page. The ad covers a wide spectrum of ads, from sports to potatoes. I agree with Taylor that the name of the blog is a bit questionable, but maybe they called it AdPulp because pulp is concentrated and thick, and the blog itself is concentrated on advertising and information strictly? The blog does seem a bit on the boring side as well, however I'd rather have something like this than a blog that is so busy that its hard to find info.
ReplyDeleteFrom first glance, the site looks pretty amateur. Then again being simple makes it easy to find the articles and check out the site. The lack of comments on some of the articles is a bit concerning. Plus, the articles last Zest. They are rather boring and are not very compelling. If I was googling the latest trends in advertising and this site came up I'd probably click out and keep on moving. Since there are about a bagazillion websites in order for one to be good, they need to have high visual appeal and interesting content if they want to be popular; Neither of which this site has.
ReplyDeleteThe layout of the website is clean and simple, not clustered, which is one of the things that i like about this Blog. The background of the sit is also simple green and blue, nothing flashy or eye-catchy making a bit less appealing to the viewer. The low number of comments on the show that a viewer or a person will not like to stay online this site for long and keep moving on. This site though, just like some of the previous sites like Adrants and Adverblog is very much related to the theme of our blog.
ReplyDeleteAdPulp has a very interesting layout that attracts the viewer with its simplicity. It uses cool green and blue colors to sort of give off a laid back tone. The ads seem to be nicely organized as well. However, I agree with Leighann about the lack of comments. It sort of seems a bit strange and also sort of hinders the blogs usefulness a bit if no one has anything to say.
