Adrants

http://www.adrants.comThis blog, titled "Adrants", is a website that is committed to all marketing and advertising news, perfect for what we are studying in our class. It provides insightful, and relevant feedback on the most current and interesting advertisements in the public. It also comments on current trends, and patterns it sees in advertisements of our time, which provides much credibility to the website, showing how "Adrants" keeps up with what's fresh. On top of that, the the site looks at factors that affect advertising strategies, new company campaigns, and viral videos. Overall, it is a site that offers up to date, intelligent advertisement feedback, but in a very trendy way.
"Adrants" presents its most recent advertisement feedback on its home page. And then offers different categories of advertisements presented by different factors on the right side of the site. I found this to be very interesting and organized! Comparing it to "Adverblog", our previous blog assessment, it is way easier to navigate, and a lot more pleasant on the eyes. It also seems as if the site offers every type of advertisement possible. A very nice collection.
What is your opinion of the layout of "Adrants"? Do you think the information following the advertisements is quality feedback?

  1. "Adrants" is an online blog that is home to various articles on some of the strategies being used in various commercials and advertisements. I find it interesting how they said what they needed to in the titles to catch the eye of the reader. In addition to the articles titles, some articles used eye catching photos to help reel in the reader. I also like how the blog is able to balance it's general appearance. It's background was appealing and colorful but not so much that it distracted the reader from the actual substance of the articles. Overall, I find the layout of "Adrants" appealing.

  2. the link to the website is this: adrants.com.
This blog was created by Steve Hall, who has worked in the business world. It shows current advertisements and what they are all about, and it could shows what might be in store for future advertisements. I find this blog to be much more appealing than Adverblog. I think Adrants really catches your eye with the vibrant blue side panel bars. It is also much more neatly organized, with catchy titles. I like the fact they have several ways to sort the material; weekly, subject, medium, and adrank (best/worst). At the bottom of the homepage, you can also see what people have twittered posts by Adrants, which I find very interesting. It shows that people actually follow this blog. What do you guys find interesting about this blog? Find any interesting posts?

  3. The blog that we have chosen is Adrants. Adrants provides news on marketing and advertising. In a way it is an encyclopedia for advertisements, allowing internet users to be up to date on everything media related with the ability to read and write blogs on each link. I thought that this blog was really interesting. It shows advertisements in a very interesting way. There are a few paragraphs on each advertisement that include a description of the advertisement in depth and the opinion that the author of that blog had about the advertisement. This sight is very organized with each blog including a video of the advertisement that is being written about, allowing for the reader of the blog to make his or her own opinion on the advertisement.

  4. A few posts caught my eye when reading Adrants. The posts weren't the very latest, but only a few days older. I think the one about Rebecca Black is pretty funny. This blog is great at staying "timely" for its viewers and keeping its readers interested. It makes you want to click the "more" button to read on. It's a pretty entertaining blog, overall.

  5. I liked Adrants. I found all of their posts interesting to read and I agree that it is much more neat than Adverblog because the color scheme is not as crazy and all-over-the-place. I thought it was odd they have little martini glasses in the background? Their evaluation of the Dr. Betty Bottoms ad is funny because they are right, any shoe will do, but through Reebok Easytone's advertising one is brought to believe that you can only get a good butt in their shoes.

  6. Do you all think "Adrants" is trying to target a more academic crowd, with people interested in evaluating advertisements? Or is more for the general pubic to use as a fun site to surf and get many different ads, like Youtube?

  7. I would say that adrants is probably more focused on the general public than it is the academic crowd. Most of the reviews are lighthearted and funny. Although some call out serious issues in the ads, most comments talk about the humor and the person’s opinion of the ad. What are other people’s opinions?

  8. Adrants is very organized in my opinion. The first thing that caught my eye was the colorful background and the bubbles. The information was well developed and consisted of easy navigation. Each story or advertisement had a place where you click on to see the full content, along with a picture to illustrate what they are talking about. Pictures i think really help because if you see a picture that catches your eye then your more than likely to look further into it. Additional information is on the side in a column itself. Overall this was a good choice and i like the clarity of the page. I think this site is more for people of the general public to enjoy and surf and just have fun looking up information.

  9. I believe this website is more for the general public to surf different advertisments because of the way the website divides their ads. It is just like youtube whatever advertisment im looking for i can just search it and it appears which is convient to everyone which makes this website great

  10. I agree that the site is really organized and fun. It has some nice decorative touches. Plus, the videos are easily accessible and most of them have a uniqueness to them. Also, the little blurbs commentating about them are witty and fun to read.

  11. This site really does catch the eye. It’s organized very well and all of the ads are easy to find. To answer Anton’s question I believe this site is for the general public than an academic audience. I get this feeling from the descriptions of the ads, the way the comments are structured don’t seem too academic. For example in the description for the new Saucony, they mention how the ad features a hot guy. With these random bits that are in many different of the descriptions this makes me think that this is more for the public than an academic croud.

  12. I agree with the idea that this blog is more focus on public and than academic. And I think this blog is probably targets on youth as their audience. With this purpose, every ad posted is brief but includes the most important information and interesting ideas. And the clear organization as well as the simple background makes it easy and comfortable looking at. Instead of presenting a lot of large pictures of ads, it just puts a small but eye-catching picture at the beginning of each post. That makes its readers easier to find what they interest in. What's more, the authors talk in a casual way and always ask questions in the comments. In this way, the blog will always makes its audiences connected and interested when they are reading.

  13. I think this blog is pretty cool. It seems well organized and updated regularly. What I also noticed compared to other blogs (from what I remember) is that on each post you can 'tweet' or 'like' the post from twitter or facebook, respectively. This would possibly attract the younger audience who might be new to blogs and dont know how they really work. Overall a nice blog.

  14. Guys this has been great and all but I wouldn't mind a little bit of variety. All of the blogs that have been posted so far have all been pretty similar. The only exceptions have been the candy blog and jezebel. I don't know if its just me but its feeling somewhat repetitive. Other than that I guess the blog is pretty cool, has a good bit of flow to it and I find the color scheme pretty appealing. Again the audience seems to be youth such as ourselves. Guess that is another reason for the trend, we put up what appeals to us and it all looks pretty similar. But anyways, the blog was interesting in its critiques and writing.

  15. The first thing you notice about this website is the general appearance. It is very catchy to the eye and grabs your attention. The thing I liked about the website was the diversity of the ads. It reminded me of a more lively version of the adverblog from week one.

  16. Its nice that the site is so up to date with multiple posts everyday. Going through the blog though, there weren't many topics or ads that caught my eye and made me want to read more. Maybe it is just me, but I didn't find many of the articles too interesting. It is deffinitly well organized and easy to read and does not overwhelm the reader.

  17. I agree that it doesn't seem like the articles are super interesting or eye catching despite their light satire. They seem to be a random assortment of topics. However, this is kind of the idea of the site isn't it? It's call Ad"rants". And whoever is writing the article for each topic idea does rant on about it about whatever they found entertaining.

  18. Adrants seems to be geared more towards the general public than to an academic crowd. It's general layout seems to give off a more casual lounge like effect thanks to the martini glasses.

  19. I feel like more space could have been utilized on the sides of the website. Instead of having so much free space, the site could have hired more ads to make more money and grow. Overall, its a nice intuitive website with great layout and good graphics. The font colors go well with the background and its pretty well organized. Interesting links too!!
